Book Groups

The library currently offers three book discussion groups. We hope you'll join us at one or all of these programs!

  • Books and Bites - This program features library staff members and local authors and residents discussing new and noteworthy books on the second Monday of the month, November-May. Come listen and have a bite! All are welcome to attend this free program. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided.
  • Belmont Book Discussion - The Belmont Book Discussion meets every other month on a Wednesday
afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Flett Room. Members suggest and choose works of fiction to discuss. Everyone is welcome.
  • Senior Center Book Discussion - A book discussion group for seniors is held every second Friday of the month at the Belmont Senior Center from 11:00 a.m. until noon. If you are interested in joining the group, please call Miriam MacNair at 617-489-2000 x2875.

Music on Saturday

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Music on Saturday offers concerts occurring monthly January through May and featuring classic, jazz, and world music.

One Book One Belmont

The library organizes this town-wide event, in which everyone is encouraged to read the same book. The mission is to build a spirit of community by bringing together individuals and groups through a series of book-related events and discussions, and to promote reading as an enjoyable and mind-opening activity. The featured title is selected by a committee made up of representatives of different town departments and commissions. Please send your suggestions for our next book to belmontpubliclibrary at and visit the One Book One Belmont site for more information.
